About Bath

As one of only two World Heritage Sites in the UK, the spa town of Bath is renowned for its stunning architecture and extensive history. Despite being a relatively small city there is a huge amount to see and do - from visiting the many iconic attractions to enjoying the exciting nightlife. 17 Lansdown Crescent Bed & Breakfast is the perfect base from which to explore Bath. Offering comfortable rooms and a city centre location, the bed & breakfast is close enough to the action to make sightseeing a breeze, and yet is secluded enough to offer complete peace and quiet during the nightime, allowing guests to enjoy peaceful, undisturbed sleep.

There are also a number of museums and galleries in the city, including the Museum of Costume and the Building of Bath Museum. A popular new attraction in the city is the incredible Thermae Bath Spa complex, which offers a more modern take on Bath's famous hot springs with an open air rooftop pool and a variety of spa treatments.

Bath is a hub for shopping, offering a great mix of high street staples and independent boutiques. The newly opened Southgate development has modernised the lower end of the city centre whilst remaining in keeping with the traditional Georgian style of the city, and has welcomed a number of high end new stores to the area. There is also a huge range of cafes and bars in which to partake in a coffee or light snack, not to mention a wide variety of restaurants to suit all tastes - from British, Italian, Middle Eastern, Mexican, Indian, Greek and Japanese. After dinner, why not indulge in a play at the Theatre Royal or even some comedy at Komedia.

There is plenty more to keep visitors occupied outside Bath itself. The Somerset and Wiltshire area is home to many popular tourist attractions, including Stonehenge, Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Longleat Safari Park and the impressive National Trust house and gardens at Stourhead. There are also a number of towns and villages surrounding Bath which may be worth exploring, including Bradford On Avon, Wells and the charming village of Laycock, where many costume dramas are filmed, including Cranford.

During late November and early December the fantastic Bath Christmas Market takes over the churchyard beside Bath Abbey and transforms it into a magical winter wonderland filled with glowing huts selling everything from crafts and gifts to mulled wine and mince pies. You won't find a more enchanting Christmas market in the UK, and as such thousands of tourists flock to the area to enjoy the atmosphere every year.
